Gregory Kastner, CPA - Senior Tax Manager

Hersman Serles Almond, LLC is proud to announce the addition of a new team member to continue the growth of its accounting and tax services for business and individual clients. Gregory Kastner, CPA has joined us as Senior Tax Manager.

Gregory has worked in public accounting for over 24 years. He has over 16 years of experience specializing in the financial service sector, including alternative investments, hedge funds, private equity funds, fund of funds, special purpose vehicles, broker dealers, real estate funds, closely held companies and all types of commercial partnerships.

Gregory’s experience includes advising various partnership, limited liability company or S corporation entities that manage these businesses and the high-net worth individuals that own them. He also has experience with closely held C corporations as well as complex consolidated corporations. His expertise covers structuring opportunities and document review, multi-jurisdictional tax planning and compliance, controversy assistance, foreign investment and investor participation, including master feeder structures, blocker corporations and Passive Foreign Investment Companies.

Gregory is also well versed on the impact of the new tax reform act and its implications to various structures. His clients have ranged from start-up entities to seasoned funds with approximately $20 billion under management and he has dealt extensively with the issues arising from side pocket investments, debt vs. equity vs. swap investments, different allocation methodologies, United States sourced income and accepting the contribution of appreciated property.

Prior to joining Hersman Serles Almond, LLC, Gregory started his career in accounting with the Big 4 and also spent time in other Top 25 international public accounting firms in California, Colorado and New York City. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of California at Davis and has been a CPA since 2004.
